Dhaliwal began her journalism career workin at WETM-TV in Elmira, New York as an anchor, reporter, and producer. There she She covered on local stories that made the national news such as the tragic shooting massacre at the American Civil Association which is in Binghamton, New York, in the year 2009.

She as well served as a reporter/fill-in anchor and a storm chaser at KACO-TV in Oklahoma City for three years there. She then worked at KACO-TV in Oklahoma City as reporter for three weeks straight reporting on the devastating Moore and El Reno tornadoes that took place in May 2013.
