Mitchell started off his acting career back in Melbourne, Australia, after havin aspired to be a professional tennis player. He got his training at the Film & Television Studio International and traveled through Australia with Sudden Impact Entertainment, an international entertainment organization.

He had his professional acting debut featured as Chris Knight in the long-running serial opera Neighbours. He thereafter moved to the Gold Coast having being hand-picked for the role Benjamin in the third season of H20:Just Add Water, an internationally acclaimed children’s drama series.

She later relocated moved to Sydney back in June 2009 and started starring on Home and Away as Romeo Smith. His role as Romeo earned him the Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent in 2010. He shared revealed his decision of leaving leave Home and Away after four years back on November 4, 2012, and as well his character left the show back in 2013. He got featured as John Young in The CW’s version of Tomorrow People in February 2013.

He later joined the cast of the American television series Members Only back in July 2014 featured as Jesse. The show was though canceled before the pilot episode aired. He then joined Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. back in February 2015 as Lincoln Campbell, a charming Inhuman.

In season three, he got to be promoted to the main cast. He was featured as Captain John “Abe” Abraham in the CBS thriller The Code back in August of 2018. Dave Annable with the role in the pilot episode got replaced by him. After one season, the show was canceled. He as well co-stars with Michael B. Jordan in Without Remorse, a 2021 film adaptation of Tom Clancy’s 1993 novel of the same name.
