Bustamante as a child learned the skills of translating between Spanish and English as a first-generation American, which gave her a vibrant role as a bilingual anchor at NBC10 and Telemundo62. She spent time volunteering at the now-closed Cabrini Convent for retired nuns in Radnor Township, Delaware County as a teenager at Cabrini High School New Orleans, in addition, it served as a nursing home for the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart.
Prior to joining NBC10, she served as the weekday morning and noon anchor at WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Virginia. Furthermore, Bustamante served as a daily weekday morning news anchor for La Selecta 103.3 at WVXX-FM, a Spanish language radio station. Before that, Bustamante served as an evening anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans, in addition, she worked alongside her co-workers for three months straight covering the devastation post-Hurricane Katrina.

Lucy has a passion for serving the Hispanic/Latinx community and serving military families. She attended and graduated from Loyola University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications. Bustamante is the former and founding President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and has been involved with the Naval Officers Spouses Association as well as the NBC Universal Veterans network.
