Adam Gilchrist Biography
Adam Gilchrist is an Australian cricket commentator. Gilchrist was a former international cricketer and captain of the Australian national cricket team. He was also an attacking left-handed batsman and a record-breaking wicket-keeper.
Adam redefines the role for the Australian national team through his aggressive batting and is widely regarded as one of the greatest wicketkeeper batsmen in the history of the game.
Gilchrist held the world record for the most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in One Day International (ODI) cricket. However, in Test cricket in 2015, Adam was beaten by Kumar Sangakkara, mostly by Australians. His batting average is among the best in ODI and Test cricket history. His 57-ball century against England at Perth in December 2006 was the fourth fastest overall in Test cricket.
He holds the unique record of scoring consecutive 50+ goals in his 1999, 2003 and 2007 World Cup finals. In the 2007 World Cup Final, Adam scored 149 of his 104 pitches against Sri Lanka. The record is considered one of the greatest innings in World Cup history. Additionally, Gilchrist is one of only three players to win three world titles.
In 1996 Adam played India’s first one-day international match and made his Test debut in 1999. During his career, he represented Australia in 96 Test matches and more than 270 one-day international matches.
