Katherine Watersto (Katherine Boyer Waterston) a British-American actress known for her roles in film debut in Michael Clayton (2007). She as well had supporting roles in films including Robot & Frank, Being Flynn (both 2012) and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby (2013), before her breakthrough performance in Inherent Vice (2014).

Katherine began her career after graduating, she spent years acting in several theater productions. Her first lead role in a play was at The Flea, a New York theatre co-founded by Jim Simpson. In 2007, She performed in the play Los Angeles by Julian Sheppard and in 2008, she performed in the play Kindness by Adam Rapp.
In 2010, Waterston played the role of Gena in the original Off-Broadway production of Bachelorette, played in the 2011 film version by Lizzy Caplan. In 2011, she played Anya in the Classic stage Company revival of The Cherry Orchard.
Iin 2011, she performed in Dreams of Flying, Dreams of Falling, also by Adam Rapp at the Classic Stage Company. While working in theater, the actress simultaneously worked in film, scoring small parts in The Babysitters, Taking Woodstock, Robot & Frank, and many others.
Despite the string of film appearances, she struggled to break into the mainstream until 2014 when she had a moment with her role as Shasta Fay Hepworth in the neo-noir comedy-drama crime film, Inherent Vice. The role earned her the first 7 award nominations of her career of which she won one – The Robert Altman Award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards.
She proved her performance on Inherent Vice was far from a fluke when she impressed greatly portraying, Chrisann Brennan, Steve’ Job’s ex-flame in the 2015 biographical film, Steve Jobs. And then came 2016 when Waterston got the biggest break of her career playing Porpentina Goldstein in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The role earned her a Teen Choice Awards nomination for Choice Fantasy Movie Actress. Waterston reprised her role in the 2018 sequel. Her other notable work is in the 2017 science-fiction horror film, Alien: Covenant.
