Dan Quinn Bio
Daniel Patrick Quinn (Dan Quinn) is an American professional football coach, currently the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). Quinn rose to prominence from 2013 to 2014, as the defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks. Here he was the play-caller for the team’s Legion of Boom Secondary.
Seattle topped the league in defense and made two consecutive Super Bowl appearances, winning the franchise’s first in Super Bowl XLVII, under Quinn. This led to him being named head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, serving for six seasons.
His most successful season with the Falcons came in 2016 after he led them to Super Bowl LI. This was an accomplishment overshadowed by the Falcons surrendering the largest lead in Super Bowl history. The Falcons would proceed to the playoffs only one more time under Dan, leading to his release early into the 2020 season. The next year, Quinn joined the Cowboys.

Playing career
Quinn played as a defensive lineman from 1990 to 1993, on the football team of Salisbury State University (now Salisbury University). He was a four-year starter in football and track and field. Quinn was also named All Mason-Dixon in 1994 because of his record-breaking hammer throw (168.8 feet) while representing Salisbury State in the NCAA track championship that year. He was a two-time football team captain and captained the track and field team in 1994. Following the 1993 football season, he was co-awarded the prestigious Bobby Richards award. He was later inducted into the Salisbury University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.
Dan Quinn’s coaching career
Quinn started his coaching career in 1994 with the William & Mary Tribe Football team and in 1995 at Virginia Military Institute, serving with their defensive lines. He then served as the defensive line coach at Hofstra from 1996 to 1999, and as their defensive coordinator and defensive line coach in 2000.
San Francisco 49ers
Quinn was hired by the San Francisco 49ers as their defensive quality control coach under head coach Steve Mariucci in 2001. He was then promoted to defensive line coach in 2003.
Miami Dolphins
Quinn was hired in 2005 as the defensive line coach by the Miami Dolphins under new head coach Nick Saban.
New York Jets
Dan was hired by the New York Jets in 2007, as the defensive line coach.

He was then hired by the Seattle Seahawks as an assistant head coach and defensive line coach under new head coach Jim L. Mora, on January 12, 2009.
University of Florida
Quinn departed Seattle in 2011, to work as the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach for the Florida Gators, within the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
Return to the Seattle Seahawks
Dan came back to Seattle as their defensive coordinator on January 17, 2013, this time under head coach Pete Carroll. Quinn took the position of Gus Bradley, who became the Jacksonville Jaguar’s head coach. Dan was a 2012 finalist for the Broyles Award, awarded annually to the nation’s top assistant coach.
In his first season as defensive coordinator, the team led the league in the fewest points allowed, the fewest yards allowed, and takeaways with 231, 4,378, and 39, respectively. They became the first team since the 1985 Chicago Bears to attain the feat and went on to win Super Bowl XLVIII against the Denver Broncos 43-8.
Atlanta Falcons
One day after the Seahawks lost Suoer Bowl XLIX to the New England Patriots, Dan came to an agreement to become the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons on February 2, 2015.
2015 season
Quinn won his first game as the head coach of the Falcons on September 14, after his team defeated the visiting Philadelphia Eagles 26-24 on Monday Night Football. They got off to a hot 5-0 start in his first season, however, they finished the season 8-8 and missed out on the playoffs.
2016 season
His Falcons completed the year with an 11-5 record in the 2016 season, which was good enough to win the NFC South and attain a first-round bye in the playoffs. They beat his former team, the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round, 36-20, proceeding to the NFC Championship for just the fourth time in the franchise history.
Quinn’s Falcons won the NFC Championship over the Green Bay Packers 44-21, on January 22, 2017. They were able to proce
