David Norris Phelps an American Christian music vocalist, songwriter, and vocal arranger best known for singing tenor in the Gaither Vocal Band. He has also released several solo albums, including four Christmas collections. On January 13, 2008. Phelps also appeared on Extreme Makeover Home Edition for the Woodhouse family.

David began singing during his childhood. He knew he wanted to be a performer as he sang in church as a teenager. At 18 years old, while graduating David started traveling around the globe to share music, inspiration, and good news.

As a solo artist, he got the 2009 Dove Award nominations for Male Vocalist of the Year and Long Form Video for the Christmas DVD, O Holy Night to add to his numerous awards and honors. Phelps’s 2012 live performance DVD, David: Classic, appeared for the first time on Billboards’ Music Video Chart at #1.

He released the recording, Freedom in 2015, it was his second production to debut at #1 on Billboards’ Music Video Chart. Additionally, in 2017, The Best of David from the Homecoming Series, also peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Music Video Sales Chart, topping some popular video releases like The Beatles’ Eight Days A Week and Eric Clapton’s Live In San Diego, as well as Adele’s Live At The Royal Albert Hall.

The Gaither Vocal Band is an American-based gospel band, named after its founder and leader Bill Gaither. Phelps was a member of the Gaither Vocal Band from 1997–2005 and again from 2009–2017.
