While a student at Ball State University, she worked as a morning news anchor at WERK in Muncie and as a sports anchor at WWWO.
Heather worked at WKJG Channel 3 in Fort Wayne and after graduation she worked there as a producer, anchor and presenter and learned everything about the business she. She then moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she worked as a weekend and health reporter for WOOD-TV from March 1995 to October 2001.
For his medical advocacy, the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians twice honored him with its advocacy award. One of the highlights of Heather’s time at WOOD was traveling to Yasothon, Thailand, to shoot a documentary about an organization called Operation Smile, which provides life-saving and life-changing support to children with cleft lips and palates.
Heather then anchored the 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 11:00 PM primetime newscasts at WNE-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana, from October 2001 to May 2018. While working there, Wane won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Broadcaster.
She then served as Vice President of Communications at Sweetwater, Fort Wayne, Indiana, the #1 online retailer of used musical instruments and equipment in the United States, from May 2018 to September 2023. In this role, Heather manages Sweetwater’s philanthropy, community engagement, public relations and internal communications. She is a long-time supporter of the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation she. Heather currently serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Indiana-Michigan and serves on the Board of Directors of the Olin B. & Desta Schwab Foundation. Prior to this, Heather served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Headwaters Consulting and a member of the AWS Foundation Board of Directors.
