Pierre-Louis worked as a law clerk for New Jersey Supreme Court Justice John E. Wallace Jr. For around ten years she served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the office of United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey.
In 2016, she was appointed Attorney-in-Charge of the Trenton Office, the first woman of color to ever hold that position. Later in 2018, she was delegated Attorney-in-Charge of the Camden Office, again the first woman of color to hold that position.
After leaving the U.S. Attorney’s office, she became a partner at the law firm of Montgomery McCracken. On June 5, 2020, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy proclaimed his intention to nominate Pierre-Louis to the New Jersey Supreme Court to take over from Walter F. Timpone, who is retiring.
If confirmed by the New Jersey Senate she would be the first Black woman to serve on the court. Her appointment would also make her the third woman on the seven-seat court not to mention its youngest member.
