Prior, Kym was a flight stewardess with Singapore Airlines. It is known that she started her show business career as a singer. She joined MediaCorp’s predecessor Television Corporation of Singapore in 1995.

However, Ng later switched to hosting and acting. Citing this, she became known to audiences as host of the popular infotainment program City Beat. Moreover, she is seen on Chinese language programs on Channel 8 and Channel U.

Furthermore, Kym is known for her direct connection with the audience and her bubbly nature. Her supporting role as Lu Meiguang in When Duty Calls garnered her first acting performance award win at the award show.
