During her freshman year in college, Annamarie dropped out and started working as a hairstylist and makeup artist in New York City. In late 2007, Tendler created a Tumblr blog focusing on daily makeup looks, the blog accumulated more than 350,000 followers. Tendler’s tutorials have been featured in magazines such as Glamour, HelloGiggles, and DailyCandy.
In 2016, Tendler collaborated with Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls to start a YouTube tutorial series combining beauty with the paranormal known as The Other Side. Tendler is the owner of the Silk Parlor, which handmade victorian style lampshades. Tendler made a brief appearance in an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, in 2018. In 2019, she was featured in her husband’s musical comedy special John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch, where Tendler talked about her greatest fears and played a cameo role in a sketch.
