Bono ( Paul David Hewson) KBE OL an Irish singer-songwriter, musician, businessman, philanthropist, and venture capitalist. He is most popular as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of rock band U2 and by his stage name Bono (/ˈbɒnoʊ/).

In 1976, when studying at the Mount Temple Comprehensive School, Bono met David Evans (The Edge), his brother Dik, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr who were also students at the school. Together, they formed a band that went by several names before settling on U2 after the departure of their colleague Dik. He initially played the guitar before becoming the group’s lead singer and lyricist.
His expressive vocal style and magnificent gestures, songwriting and passion soon endeared him to become the frontman for the U2 band. His lyrics are known for their religious imagery inspired by his Christian beliefs as well as their social and political themes. His lyrics contributed to the group’s rebellious and spiritual tone during it’s formative years.
His lyrics became more and more inspired by personal experiences shared with the other U2 members as the band’s maturity set in. Bono has received 22 Grammy Awards in the cause of his U2 membership and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He was named the most politically effective celebrity of all time by the National Journal for his philanthropic performers. The phrase the face of fusion philanthropy has even been used to describe him. He has been involved in raising awareness of the plight of African countries and the AIDS pandemic and has become increasingly involved in campaigning for third-world countries’ debt relief since 1999.
Bono, Ali Hewson, and designer Rogan Gregory co-founded the EDUN fashion label in 2005. The intention was to positively impact change in Africa through a fair trade-based relationship as opposed to direct aid. EUDN was to demonstrate ethical examples in an industry they felt had long exploited child labour.

Bono is the o-founder and spokesperson of The ONE Campaign which has a worldwide membership of more than 9 million people. He co-founded the Campaign in order to fight extreme poverty and preventable diseases in Africa and in other developing countries. This was to be by raising awareness and pressing political leaders to support policies and initiatives that’d save lives and improve futures as an international, nonpartisan, non-profit, advocacy and campaigning organization.

Bono launched a campaign dubbed Poverty is Sexist, which is Particularly aimed at helping the world’s poorest women. This development saw Glamour break their 26-year tradition in 2016, by naming Bono Man of the Year. This was in lieu of announcing the usual Woman of the Year award which is a preserve for women only.

Bono Education
Bono joined Mount Temple Comprehensive School where he met Alison Stewart, his wife, and also three schoolmates with whom he formed the U2 rock band in 1976.

Bono was born to Iris (née Rankin), a member of the Church of Ireland, and Brendan Robert “Bob” Hewson, a Roman Catholic. He was raised up alongside his brother who is eight years his elder, in the Northside suburb of Fingla.
Bono attended Church of Ireland services with his mother and brother even tough his parents had originally agreed that their first child would be raised Anglican and the second as Catholic.
