She is as well known for the role she featured as Kathy Barrett on Coronation Street from March to September 1982. Cheryl enrolled and studied drama at the Saturday Club for children, run by actor Joe Holroyd in Salford. She started off with her stage debut at the age of 9 in a production of “The Corn is Green” at the Victoria Theatre. She later auditioned for the Arts Educational School in Tring and earned a scholarship when she was 12 years. She then enrolled and studied at amount view Theatre School, Crouch Hill, London, graduating in July 1981.
