Coy’s football journey began in 2002 when he was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the NFL Draft, showing extraordinary talent and potential. Due to the severity of his injuries, a titanium plate and four screws were implanted in his neck. Because of this unfortunate event, Bills made the difficult decision to release him. It was a difficult time for Wyer to recover from injuries, both physically and mentally.
Still, Wire’s resilience and determination led him to find another opportunity in the NFL. On July 25, 2008, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons to prove himself again. Throughout his three seasons with the Falcons, he displayed an unwavering work ethic and passion for the game, appearing in all but one of those games.
His contributions to the team were not limited to his on-field performances, and his teammates named him team captain in recognition of his leadership qualities. In 2010, Wyer received the prestigious Ed His Block Courage Award for his unwavering spirit and perseverance, cementing his reputation as a player who never gave up despite big challenges.
Though his time with the Falcons finally came to an end when he was released in September 2011, Coy’s footsteps in the NFL left an indelible mark.
