David Panuelo Career

In 1988, he was appointed Deputy Ambassador of the Micronesian Embassy in Fiji and served in this position until 1993. In 1993, David was assigned to work with the Micronesia Mission. He continued this duty at the United Nations until 1996.

In 1997, Panuelo was appointed Director of the Pohnpei Province Resource Management and Development Department, a position he held until 2001.

From 2003 until 2010, David left his government job to work in the private sector. On May 11, 2011, Panuelo was elected as senator to the third presidency of Pohnpei Province for a two-year term. He was re-elected unopposed in 2013 and 2015. Panuelo was elected president of Micronesia in 2019.
