John Layfield Biography
John Layfield is a retired American professional wrestler, NFL player, television personality, and journalist from Texas. He is now known for his work as a Fox News commentator. John even served as a financial analyst on Fox Business Network. He even served as vice president of Northeast Securities for almost a decade. After his retirement, Layfield also served as an announcer for WWE.
Layfield was born and raised in a middle-class family in the town of Sweetwater, Texas. He has been a sports and football lover since his childhood. John played football and rugby in high school before going to university. He then attended Abilene Christiana University, where he played college football until graduation.
Layfield played offense in his first two years as an NFL player. He eventually signed with the Los Angeles Raiders as an undrafted free agent during his junior and senior years in college. He also played in the World Football League, starting every game at right tackle at the start of the 1991 season.

Since then, John developed a great love for wrestling in early 1992. He began training with Black Bart and Brad Rhenigans, who helped Layfield in his performances at the World Championships in Texas in September. John then went on to do his first stunt under the name John Hawk. He eventually made friends and started his own team, the Texas Broncos. In 1995, Layfield debuted as a wrestler in the World Wrestling Federation as John Hawke in a dark match with Savio Vega.
John appeared on television in 1996 under his new name, Justin Hawk Brashaw, on an episode of WWF Superstars. John went on to compete in many WWE matches, and his reputation as a wrestler grew rapidly during WWE’s Attitude Era. His biggest moment before retiring in 2009 was winning the WWE Championship and holding it for 280 days. This makes him the 20th Triple Crown Champion and 10th WWE Grand Slam Champion in WWE history. John is currently a commentator for WWE and Fox News Channel.
