Moyes got interested in music as of his younger aage. He started taking music seriously after his mother who was his greatest supporter died.
“That was kind of the big wake-up call. When she passed away, I feel like my priorities, in general, were just reevaluated quite a bit. I felt like I had a need to suddenly do more of what I love and pursue it more fully.”
He began to sing more, wrote more music and released his first EP. He as well made a tribute song for his mother called “Not That Far Away.” Moyes also started doing shows around Arizona, Utah, and California. He is now based in Provo.

Moyes audition on a Sunday, March 15 2019. He says Utah singer, Ashley Hess who is a friend of his and who made it to the show’s top 14 in 2019, pushed him to go for it.
“She pushed me to kind of go for it. And watching her experience on the show last season and how it changed her life and jumpstarted her career has certainly been inspiring for me, and I think it was exactly what I needed to kind of get over that edge and pursue it,” Moyes shared.

Moyes’ mother was a fan of American Idol and when he got 9 years old, his mother shared with him that she would like him to audition for the show but that is if he wanted to.
His mother though died in June 2018 due to pulmonary embolism. “She was alone in her room and was unable to receive help soon enough to revive her. So it was entirely unexpected and just kind of a shock,” Moyes said.
