Joshua Topolski is an American technology journalist, DJ and record producer who goes by the name Joshua Ryan. He is best known as the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Verge, a technology news network. Topolsky was previously the editor-in-chief of Engadget.
Topolski began his career in 2007 as Editor-in-Chief at technology blog Engadget. He then moved to Vox Media Inc. From April 2011 to August 2014, he served as Vice President in New York.
After he stepped down as editor-in-chief of Engadget in March 2011, he became technology correspondent for NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and then “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
He then launched his new website called This Is My Next. This is a temporary job for him and his former Engadget colleagues to build a new tech network. A variety of tech included his news, reviews, and editorials. My Next featured former Engadget editors and contributors such as Joanna Stern, Chris Ziegler, Paul Miller, and Nilei Patel.
On November 1, 2011, Topolsky and his team launched The Verge, where he became its founding editor. He left The Verge in 2014 and joined Bloomberg LP as publisher and chief digital content officer. From 2016 until 2020 he was the editor-in-chief of The Outline.
