Laurent Dauphin is a professional Canadian ice hockey forward currently playing for the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL (National Hockey League). He was drafted by the Coyotes 39th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Laurent Dauphin’s Playing Career

He played in the 2007 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament as a youth with a minor ice hockey team from Lanaudiere Ouest. Later, he played with the College Esther-Blondin Phenix of the Ligue de hockey Midget AAA du Quebec (QMAAA). There, he became the first player in franchise history to record 100 points.

Later he played three seasons of major junior hockey with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. On December 29, 2015, he made his NHL debut during the 2015-16 season. And on January 4, 2016, he scored his first career NHL goal against the Vancouver Canucks. The following day, he was re-assigned to the American Hockey League.

On June 23, 2017, he was traded by Arizona at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Alongside Connor Murphy to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Niklas Hjalmarsson. In the 2017-18 season, he was re-assigned to an AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs. This was after attending the Blackhawks training camp and pre-season. Less than one year after being traded to Chicago, he was traded back to the Coyotes alongside Richard Panik in exchange for Anthony Duclair and Adam Clendening. He began the 2018-19 season serving as an Alternate Captain for its third season with the Coyotes’ affiliate the Tuscon Roadrunners.

On January 10, 2019, he added 20 points in 34 games for the Roadrunners and made 1 appearance with the Coyotes against the Vancouver Canucks. Before he was traded by the Coyotes for a second time along with Adam Helewka to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Emil Petterson on February 8, 2019. While with the AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, on February 27, 2019, he was signed to a one-year, two-way contract extension with the Predators. In the 2019-20 season, he continued with the Milwaukee Admirals. And added seven goals and 16 points in 33 games before he was traded by the Predators to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Michael McCarron on January 7, 2020.

The following year on June 21, he was re-signed to a one-year, two-way contract by the Canadiens. The subsequent 2021-22 season would see Laurent get his most substantial opportunities in the NHL since 2017 as the injury-depleted Canadiens called him up for long periods when other centremen were sidelined. On March 9, 2022, he played a career-high twenty-fifth game in an NHL season. He returned as a free agent for a third stint with the Arizona Coyotes, signing a one-year, two-way contract on July 13, 2022.
