The 1978 crime film “Straight Time” brought Emmet M. into the limelight, playing the role of a prison officer. He also had a small but memorable role as a badass gunman in Steve Martin’s comedy Jerkass. His role as Captain Harry Bryant in Ridley Scott’s cult film Blade Runner is one of his most famous roles. Moreover, the two-bedroom private detective in Easy Blood (1984) is arguably his best work. This earned him the Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor in 1986.
He is also the husband of Tim Taylor, who made a guest appearance on Home Improvement. In 1992, he played a powerful US senator in David Winning’s “Killer Image”. He also played against one of the Kranks’ closest neighbors on Christmas. In the 1972 film “The Sandy Duncan Show,” he played motorcycle cop Alex Lembeck, who appoints himself as Sandy Stockton’s bodyguard and protector. He also appeared in 1981’s “Little House on the Prairie” and in an episode of the 1976 NBC series “Gibbsville.” In an episode of NYPD Blue, Sipowicz and Dr. Joseph Croft.
Also some of his adventures include small-town hockey player Dickie Dunn in the 1977 hockey movie Slap, scenes from Rodney Dangerfield’s movie Back to School, and a college diving coach.
