Marianna Spring Biography
Mariana Spring has been BBC’s first specialist disinformation and social media reporter since March 2020. Her debut book Among the Trolls: Notes From the Disinformation Wars is due for publication from Atlantic Books in autumn 2023.
Mariana also studied French and Russian at Pembroke College, Oxford, and while there wrote for the student newspaper Cherwell. During a year abroad in Yaroslavl as part of her degree, Spring contributed news articles to The Moscow Times.
She is the first-ever specialist disinformation and social media reporter for the BBC appointed to the new role in March 2020. In 2021 she was the reporter for Vaccines: The Disinformation War, for Panorama.
Writing for The Sunday Times, Spring described her BBC role as “to humanize disinformation and explain its impact to viewers, listeners, and readers. Her debut book Among the Trolls: Notes From the Disinformation Wars is due for publication from Atlantic Books in autumn 2023.
