Tamayo began his career broadcast news in Eureka at KVIQ-TV, where I helped launch a morning newscast. Mark left for Steinbeck Country at KSBW-TV in Salina, where he drove back to the Bay Area at KRON-TV, and worked on the morning newscasts and produced environmental reports.

He joined KTVU FOX2 and during his time at KTVU, he received two Emmys for best weather reporting. Mark also received another Emmy for his contribution to Napa earthquake coverage. He’s passionate about learning more about the weather, he has covered environmental topics ranging from fire science research to the latest NASA technology to monitor changing snow conditions in the Sierra.
He developed presentations that make science fun and exciting for our local students, thus, visiting the Bay Area schools to bring weather lessons to the classroom. He was one of the project leads to help coordinate the first-ever Weather Education Day with the Oakland Athletics in the springs in 2009.
