For WPIX in New York, Castro has previously worked as a general assignment correspondent. She worked as a reporter for News 12, a cable news network located in the Bronx. She spent a brief period of time teaching English at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn. In September 2010, Castro left the GMA Weekend program. On January 3, 2011, Castro took over for Dave Price as the weekday weather forecaster for The Early Show on CBS as part of a major show makeover. She announced on September 2, 2011, that she will be stepping down from her role as weather anchor with immediate effect.
As a morning traffic reporter and anchor for WTNH-TV ABC 8 in New Haven, Connecticut, Castro started working there in June 2015. Castro was relieved of her stand-in responsibilities in November 2015, and she later left the station. In July 2015, she began hosting Premier Boxing Champions for ESPN.
Castro replaced Alex Anthony, who was dismissed the same year, as the New York Mets’ public address announcer at Citi Field on May 30. Weekend PA responsibilities are split between her and everyday announcer Colin Cosell, Howard Cosell’s grandson. On May 31, 2018, Castro faced up against the Chicago Cubs for the first time. First female public address announcer for the Mets is Castro. In 2023, she came back to WPIX as a weekday morning news anchor.
