Seidel started working at WMDT-TV in 1980 and worked there until 1982. He then joined WYFF-TV in Greenville, South Carolina in 1983 and worked at the station until 1989. He later got back to Salisbury in 1989 to work as the meteorologist for WBOC-TV. Seidel left the station in 1992.

He then joined and later graduated from Pennsylvania State University and earned his Master’s degree in Meteorology.
