Nicola Yoon is a known Jamaican-American Author  known as the author of 2015 young adult novel ‘Everything, Everything’, a New York Times bestseller book, which is the basis of a 2017 film ‘Everything, Everything’. She as well wrote ‘The Sun Is Also a Star’, a novel that was adapted to a film in 2016.

Yoon debut novel, Everything, Everything, was inspired by the birth of her biracial daughter. She wanted to write a book that reflected her child on the pages. Yoon’s first-time mother worries about protecting her baby from danger gave her the idea to write a story about a 17-year-old girl who needed the same level of protection.

The book was edited within three years time ,full time working in morning hours,same tim nursing her baby .The illustrations were drawn by her Korean American graphic designer David Yoon. The book was s released in September 2015 and debuted as No. 1 New York Times bestseller for young adult hardcover books. It spent 40 weeks on the bestseller list.

A film of the same name based on the book, adapted by J. Mills Goodloe and starring Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson, was released in May 2017.

It was also listed in the top 10 books of 2016 by Entertainment Weekly and the Los Angeles Times. The Sun Is Also a Star is Nicola’s book. The book is about a girl, Natasha, who believes in science and facts and has no time to fall in love and a young man, Joseph, who has always been a good son and student who lived up to his parents’ high expectations.

Daniel later falls in love with Natasha. In November 2016, The Sun Is Also a Star, was released. The book reached number one on the New York Times Best Seller list. The book was a 2016 National Book Award finalist. It was included in The New York Times Book Review list of Notable Children’s Books of 2016.

It was also listed in the top 10 books of 2016 by Entertainment Weekly and the Los Angeles Times. In 2017, The Sun Is Also A Star was honored as a finalist of the Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award. In December 2016, it was announced that film rights to the book had been acquired by Warner Brothers and MGM. The movie was released on May 17, 2019.
