Peter Frey Career
After graduating from the Stefan-George-Gymnasium in Bingen in 1976, Frey engaged in public service and from 1978 studied politics, education and Spanish at the University of Mainz, where he worked as a Spanish Foreign Service Officer . . While he was a student, he worked as a reporter for Südwestfunk and wrote for Frankfurter Review and Die Zeit. In 1983, Peter became editor of the German TV channel 2, responsible for newspapers in Mexico, Nicaragua, Spain and Poland. From 1988 he served as an advisor to the new president of DTV 2, Klaus Blaser.
In 1991 Frey moved to Washington DC, where he worked as a correspondent and manager of the studios of German TV channel 2 and covered the Gulf War. From 1992 to 1998 he directed ZDF-Morgenmagazin and presented the program together with Maybrit Illner, Gundula Gause [de] and Cherno Jobatey [de].
From 1998 to 2001 Peter was director of the main program of the German TV channel 2. During this time auslandsjournal hosted the ZDF Royal program as well as various special programmes. He founded the daily newspaper “heute – in Europa” in Europe and abroad “Wer retet Russia?” 》 and “Der Fluch des Öls.”
