Maddern previously co-hosted The Footy Show that she originally signed with the network. She as well worked at the Seven Network for over a decade as a presenter and reporter for Seven News and as well presented a number of programs and events across the network. Back in November 2021, it was announced that she resigned from the Nine Network after being unable to agree on contractual terms.

She began her radio career back in 1999 and then serves as a sports reporter for Melbourne radio station Triple M, whilst there she served together with alongside some of the top media personalities of Australia. Back in 2001, she began reading the Fox FM afternoon news reports and as of 2002 and later relocated to Nova 100 to read the breakfast news during the inaugural year of Hughesy, Kate and Dave.

Back in October 2002, she started working with Seven Network after being offered reporting position by the news director.While there she earned a prestigious Quill Award for her coverage of Victoria’s back in January 2003 bushfires. In September 2005, she got appointed as a presenter of Seven Afternoon News replacing David Johnston until the bulletin got moved to the network’s Sydney studios. Bakc in January 2013, she got back to present Seven Afternoon News with production moving back to Melbourne after replacing Samantha Armytage. In August 2013 she got replaced by Melissa Doyle and Matt White.

Back in March 2014, she joined Sunrise as Melbourne correspondent and replaced Nick Etchells.She had reduced duties on Seven News as a senior reporter due to her Sunrise commitments. She remained with Sunrise until her move to the Nine Network. Nathan Templeton replaced her as Melbourne correspondent.

Back in March 2016, the Nine Network shared that Maddern will co-host the AFL Footy Show. Back in November 2016, she was announced the host of the Australian Ninja Warrior which aired on the Nine Network in July 2017. Back in August 2018, it was announced she will host the network’s tennis coverage and as well not be returning to the AFL Footy Show. In December 2019, the Nine Network hsred that she will replace Allison Langdon to host of Weekend Today. Rebecca has also hosted Nine’s coverage of the 2019 Cricket World Cup and 2019 Ashes Series in England. Back in November 2021, it was shared that Maddern had resigned from the Nine Network after being unable to agree on contractual terms.

She later got named as the ambassador for the Geelong Cup back in 2007. In 2011, she as well got named the number one ticket holder for the Geelong Football Club.
