Rick Allen Biography
Rick Allen (Rick Allen Schwieger) an American television personality, play-by-play announcer, and voice-over artist. He currently works for NBC Sports as the play-by-play announcer for NASCAR’s Cup Series and Xfinity, on an interim basis for the International Motor Sports Association, and for NBC Sports coverage of track & field.
He Previously worked as a play-by-play broadcasting for Fox Sports’s coverage of NASCAR’s Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series and voice-over work for Goodyear, Sears, Alltel, and Toyota including others.

Allen worked as a public address announcer for the University of Nebraska athletic department. He as well worked at a local dirt oval racetracks including Eagle Raceway, where Fox Sport got him.
He as well worked for Fox Sports from 2003 to mid-2014, mainly calling NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series races on SPEED and later Fox Sports 1. He as well covered Nationwide Series (now Xfinity Series) events on occasion.
He was made as the lead announcer for NASCAR on NBC beginning in 2015 on December 4, 2013. While still working for Fox, he began hosting the regular studio program NASCAR America for NBC in early 2014.
He as well revealed during the Truck Series Eldora race on July 23, 2014, that it would be his last race on Fox Sports, as he was now only affiliated with NBC. He had a standing ovation at the Truck Series drivers’ meeting before the race because much of his work was with the Truck Series. Steve Byrnes took over as his replacement before Byrnes died of head and neck cancer in April 2015.
He later joined the Verizon IndyCar Series on NBC broadcast team for select Verizon IndyCar Series events starting at Phoenix in 2016, filling in for regular IndyCar play-by-play announcer Leigh Diffey, who was working on NBC’s Formula One coverage at the time.
