He started his journalism career in 1995 as an editor and publisher at ORF-Landesstudio Vorarlberg. In 1998 he also hosted the show Vorarlberg Heute. In 1999 Roman moved to ORF’s main news program “Zeit im Bild”, based at the company’s headquarters in Vienna. There he was owner and president of ZiB 3. In 2002, Rafreider became the owner of Thema. He is also the owner of ORF’s consumer magazine Gut beraten Österreich.
Since April 2007 he has been the presenter and chairman of ZiB 20 and ZiB 24 (Midnight) at ORF eins. [1] He has been responsible for creating new information for ORF eins since February 2019, following his temporary departure due to a disagreement with former partners, whose disapproval was frequently reported in the tabloid press.
Rafreider has been running the ZIB 18, ZIB 20, ZIB Nacht and ZIB Flash news broadcasts since March 12, 2020 and is the director of the ORF news program.
