Shangela an American drag queen, reality television personality, and actor known for competing on RuPaul’s Drag Race. She was the first contestant to be eliminated in season two, and got back as a surprise contestant in the series’ third season, placing sixth.
She got back once again for the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars where she completed in third/fourth place alongside the winner of the first season, BeBe Zahara Benet. She as well made a number of television appearances and regularly performs across the United States and Canada. The New York magazine named her one of the top 100 Most Powerful RuPaul Drag Queens in America back in June 2019. Due to her role in A Star Is Born, she got t be he first queen to walk the Oscars red carpet in drag.

Shangela Season 2
Shangela first began on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2 but got sent home first because she didn’t have enough experience. Before the 2nd season, she was only doing drag for 5 months and never knew how to sew and needed Pandora Boxx’s help sewing her outfit. She quoted during deliberation “This is RuPaul’s Drag Race, NOT RuPaul’s School for Girls!”
She later fell into the bottom two in the “Gone With the Window” Challenge together her best friend, Sahara Davenport, and was sent home.
Shangela Season 3
On Drag Race Season 3, she got back returned to the competition in a giant Christmas Box in the 2nd episode “The Queen Who Mopped Xmas”. She got to be is the first queen to ever return to compete from a previous season
She felt that she was ready to compete and has gained enough experience to rejoin the competition. After being eliminated on Season 2, she has earned a full year of experience. Shangela survived 10 episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race and made it to the top five.
On the 2nd episode, when she got back, she fell in the bottom two alongside Venus D-Lite but survived. In the fourth episode, at the time India Ferrah was safe after lip-syncing with Mimi Imfurst, Shangela can be heard screaming/shouting for joy that Mimi is leaving.
On Episode 11, her Hair Extravaganza, she sew three different outfits, and was seen as the weakest as per the judges and later ended up lip-syncing for her life in the bottom two, with her good friend Alexis Mateo in Season 3. She earned the lip-sync battle against Shangela, and Shangela ended up Sashaying Away.
She though never won the competition, she made it to the top five and it has changed her life ever since the show’s end. Not just in performing and traveling, but it also gained her more experience.
Shangela Season 4 Cameo
In the first episode of her Drag Race, Season 4 she as well made once again a surprise cameo appearance. She got back on the same way as in Season 3 by jumping out of a box, making it look like she would come back for another season. kthough it was just to tease the other Queens and she did not re-enter the competition.
