Steve Bunin Biography
Steve Bunin is a news reporter working for NBC’s KING-TV. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University in 1996. On ESPN and ESPN2, he also hosted Baseball Tonight, NFL Live, Sports Reporters, ESPN Radio and numerous NCAA and pro sports events.
He was the first ESPN anchor to receive the company’s prestigious “Game Ball” award for character in 2010. In 2012, Barack Obama honored him with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for his volunteer work, primarily with at-risk teenagers.
Steve became the lead anchor for Comcast SportsNet Houston from 2012 to 2014, before the network went bankrupt. Bunin was nominated for three Texas Emmy Awards in two years, winning for his groundbreaking interview with Carl Lewis.
He co-hosted the mid-day show on ESPN Radio KFNC Houston and the prime-time national show on SB Nation Radio with Sean Salisbury from 2015 to 2016. Bunin joined KING-TV in 2017 and was nominated for a Regional Emmy for Outstanding News Anchor. in each of its first two years.
Before joining ESPN, he worked as a sports anchor at five local news stations: WOTV-TV in Battle Creek, Michigan from 2002 to 2003, WLAJ-TV in Michigan from 2000 to 2001, WLAJ-TV in Flagstaff, Arizona from 1998 to 2000, Binghamton in 1997, WICZ-TV in New York and WTVH-TV in Syracuse, New York from 1995 to 1996, where he worked with future ABC anchor David Muir.
