Tracy started her career in 1988 at WTRF-TV in Wheeling, West Virginia as a weathercaster. She then joined WFMJ-TV in Youngstown, Ohio where she was the chief weather anchor until 1991. She later joined the WRIC-TV news team in Richmond, Virginia where she anchored the morning and noon weathercasts.
In 1993 she joined ABC and worked as a fill-in anchor in the morning show Good Morning America until 2002. She is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. She formed Weather Sketcher’s Club where she promotes children’s’ talents. She does so by motivating children to send their weather-related drawings which are likely to be aired on ABC 7 News This Morning.

She got to be named “Woman of the Year” by the Executive Women’s Golf Association and has won the Illinois Treasurer’s Public Service Award. In 2012, she got honored to receive the Public Education Award from the Illinois Chapter of the MS Society. In 2013, she together with co-director, Scott Woodruff, began a golf outing called The Duke Classic, to honor the memory of long-time ABC 7 cameraman, Michael Dukewich, who passed away in 2012.
The outing raised over $60,000 to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository & the Wounded Warrior Project. She is a great lover of golf, and in her leisure, Tracy participates in charity golf programs.
