Yurii Kovryzhenko Biography

Yury Kobrizhenko is a chef, TV and radio host, and a global ambassador for Ukrainian cuisine. He was awarded the Global Chef Awards 2017 in Singapore for his commitment to growing the hospitality industry.

He will turn 40 on June 8, 2022. He was born in 1983 in Kiev, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Yurii Kovryzhenko Family – Education

his mother was a teacher. He graduated in 1999 from the Kiev 6th Art School. From 2000 until 2005 he studied at the Faculty of International Relations, Slavic University in Kiev. He has also studied at the Ecole Ritz Escoffier and Ecole Grégoire Ferrand in Paris, the Basque Culinary Center in San Sebastian, Spain, the IFSE in Turin and the International Academy of Italian Culinary Arts in Lucca, Italy.

Yurii Kovryzhenko Restaurant

As a chef, he launched the Ukrainian restaurant “Kobzar” in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 2012, where he worked for two years to promote Ukrainian cuisine in the Caucasus region. In 2014, he oversaw the Vintage Nouveau restaurant at Lviv’s Vintage Hotel.

In 2019, he opened the Ukrainian cuisine restaurant Trypillia in Seoul, South Korea, with the backing of Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He will coach the national culinary squad for the IKA Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart in 2020.

He was granted a special prize, a gold medal, and the honorary title of Ambassadors of the Taste for Global Gastronomy twice in 2021 and 2022. He was inducted into France’s oldest culinary order, the Disciples Escoffier International, in November 2021.

He arranged the Month of Ukrainian Cuisine in France in the autumn of 2021, during which he opened a Ukrainian pop-up restaurant in Dijon, during the International Culinary Exhibition Foirde Dijon. Yurii started a Ukrainian cuisine restaurant in London in the summer of 2022.

Yurii Kovryzhenko Slow Food

He has been an avid supporter of Slow Food for many years. Kobrizhenko is the Ukrainian representative of the international culinary organization Slow Food Chef Alliance. Founded in Italy in 1986 by Carlo Petrini, Slow Food promotes local and traditional cuisine as an alternative to fast food. He promotes plant, seed and livestock farming as well as local small businesses and sustainable cuisine. Slow Food focuses on protecting small and local farmers and producers from globalization, promoting food quality while combating overproduction and food waste.

Yurii Kovryzhenko Career

In 2019, he served as host and cook on STB’s cooking show “Dish of Honor”. Since 2020, he is the president of Bocuse d’Or Ukraine, the Ukrainian office of the biennial World Culinary Championships. Since 2020, Mr. Kobrizhenko has been working as an ambassador of Ukrainian cuisine in various countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. A photo of Kovryzhenko’s molecular borscht appeared in the famous culinary magazine CHEF and the Michelin Red Guide at the end of 2020. From 2016 to 2019, he was a speaker and member of the organizing committee of the Chef’s World Summit in Monte Carlo.

From 2017 until 2019 she represented Ukraine at the World Gourmet He Summit in Singapore. In 2018, he took part as a chef in Brussels’ “Uncounted Because 1932” project, which aims to raise awareness of the Holodomor in Ukraine and make other countries aware of the Holodomor. In 2020, he plans to train the national culinary team for the IKA Culinary Olympiad in Stuttgart. In 2021 and 2022 he won a special award, a gold medal and the honorary title of Ambassador of Global Gastronomy. In November 2021, he joined Disciples Escoffier International, the oldest culinary order in France.
