Zach joined KMTV after being recognized by the Nebraska Broadcasters Association as a sports reporter and news anchor while working at KSNB Local 4 in Hastings, Nebraska.

While attending Iowa State University, he served as sports director for the student-run television station ISUtv and lent his talents to 88.5 KURE Sports radio. He further expanded his personal skills by interning at major companies such as Iowa State Sports on Cyclones TV, WOI-5 in Des Moines, WOWT in Omaha and the Iowa Cubs (the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs).
