Zoran Milanovic is a Croatian politician who has been President of Croatia since 19 February 2020. Before becoming president, he served as president from 2011 to 2016 and as chairman of the Social Democratic Party from 2007 to 2016. After graduating from law school in Zagreb, Zoran started working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 1996 and 1999, he served as advisor to the Croatian delegation to the European Union and NATO in Brussels.
He joined the Social Democratic Party in the same year. Milanovic received a master’s degree in European Union law from the Free University of Brussels in 1998 and a Master’s degree in Multilateral Relations in 2003 as assistant to the Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs for political affairs.

Zoran Milanović Career
Zoran Milanović is a Croatian politician since February 2020. He has been President of Croatia since March 19. Before there was a presidential administration, he was president from 2011 to 2016 and leader of the Social Democratic Party from 2007 to 2016.
After graduating from Zagreb Faculty of Law, Zoran started working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 1996 and 1999, he served as advisor to the Croatian delegation to the European Union and NATO in Brussels.
He joined the Social Democratic Party in the same year. Milanovic received a master’s degree in European Union law from the Free University of Brussels in 1998, and in 2003 he became assistant to the Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs in the work of several political parties.
In June 2007, he was elected Chairman of the Social Democratic Party following the death of former Prime Minister Ivica Lakan, the party’s long-time leader. Under his leadership, the party finished second in the 2007 general elections but failed to secure a majority. Although he lost the election, he was re-elected as party chairman in 2008.
In 2011, he founded the Kukuriku Alliance, which includes four left-wing parties. The party won some of the 2011 elections and the Social Democrats became the church’s largest party. Milanovic became president on 23 December 2011 after the government approved the commission.
